Our Commitment:
The mission of Kells Counselling is to provide effective, outcome oriented intervention services to our clients.
Kells Counselling is committed to honouring individual and cultural uniqueness. Everyone will be treated with the same level of respect and kindness. We strive to create an environment of professionalism, safety, and opportunity where individuals, families, and couples can make healthy choices for growth and build upon their strengths.
History:
In 1992, Executive Director Janet Ryan established the Kids Support Group (KSG), which was based in Beaumont. The KSG mandate was to provide specialized counselling services for children and families.
In 1995, the KSG was renamed Kells Counselling. In 2001, the R.K. Ryan Building was constructed at 91 Street and Ellerslie Road in Edmonton, and Kells moved to its new home.
Our Name:
Kells Counselling was named for the Book of Kells, an illuminated Latin manuscript containing the four Gospels of the New Testament. Transcribed by Celtic monks around 800 AD, the Book of Kells’ message emphasizes restoration and healing—values that reflect the service heart of Kells Counselling. The Celtic knot is predominant in the Book of Kells and is the logo for Kells Counselling. Janet’s strong values and faith have formed the foundation of Kells Counselling.
The Logo:
Our logo is a Celtic knot, which is a complete loop with no start or finish. It is said to represent eternal values, such as faith, friendship, family, and love.
