Emily Killen, M.C.

Program Manager & Counsellor

Emily began her work with Family Solutions Group as a youth mentor and group facilitator. She has over eight years’ experience working with children and families. Emily graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from MacEwan University in 2016. She then attended the University of Calgary and obtained a Master of Counselling with a specialization in Counselling Psychology.

Emily uses person-centered therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), emotionally focused therapy (EFT), faith based counselling, and play therapy in her work with her clients.

Her professional and educational accomplishments have all built on one another to create the role she is in now. As the program manager and mental health counsellor, Emily has a wonderful position where she can work with clients and draw on her years of experience as a coach, mentor, and group facilitator while using her training in business and communications to advance the company. She loves this balance of directly helping with the global planning and management aspects.

Emily is a warm, caring person with a passion for helping people heal and grow. She believes that all people have the ability to heal and that they are the experts on what that might look like. She also believes that psychology is there to help guide clients toward their definition of wellness. As such, Emily tries to approach every conversation with kindness, empathy, and respect. She views those who seek counselling as people who prioritize wellness, move past their challenges, and are brave!
